WATER UPGRADE
2018-04-19
As a result of growing health consciousness worldwide consumers are calling for beverages with less sugar and more healthy ingredients. The beverage industry has already responded to this by introducing numerous changes to their low-cal products as well as a host of organic lemonades meant to support consumers in a healthier lifestyle.
PEEL, POP AND SHAKE
The Pepsi brand is now going one step further and is discontinuing pre-mixed sodas to launch a new product called Drinkfinity. The company will now focus on water with natural ingredients for consumers to mix at home. To this end spherical plastic balls – called Pods – are pressed onto a bottle filled with water; this is how the ingredients of up to now ten different flavours end up in the water. The matching Pod can be selected either in line with culinary preferences such as sweet, spicy or fruity or in tune with the given physical-mental state (Mode) consumers wish to achieve and/or support – chill, charge, flow or renew. Those wishing specific nutrients and minerals can specifically look for matching Pods here, too. The range includes the flavour combinations Grapefruit Yerbamate, Lemon Ginger, Apple Guaraná, Pineapple Dragonfruit, Banana Acai, Pomegranate Plum, Blackberry Grape, White Peach und Tropical Ginger. Pepsi’s Drinkfinity makes water not only more tasty but also healthier. Photo: Drinkfinity
Drinkfinity bottles are made of BPA-free plastics and are dishwasher-safe, re-usable and recyclable. Additionally, they are said to be impact-resistant. Individuality has been at the focus of the entire product design. Customers are meant to have the freedom to combine their matching refreshments in keeping with their changing needs. There are even four different colours available to chose from for the bottle closure. The colourful Pods are recyclable and after use can be returned in an attached bag to Pepsi free of charge. This service is currently offered to customers in Brazil where Drinkfinity has already been on the market since 2014 and in North America. For buyers in the UK they cooperate with local recycling companies.

THE HEALTHY DRINK
A similar product called QuickCap had already been launched on the German market by pharmaceutical company Orthomol about a year ago. Here, however, the ingredients are still contained in the drinking attachment that can simply be recycled after use. There are four flavours to choose from: Quick Beauty, Quick Brain, Quick Sports, Quick Sun with active agents promoting beauty, concentration, physical exercise and tanning. The bottles are made of the unbreakable plastic Tritan™, are dishwasher-safe and contain no plasticisers.
